Stadium Lights and Simplot 2016

Only 9 athletes have paid their 'light' bill for January.  Everyone that hasn't paid needs to do so ASAP - We ALL need to pay or we will no longer be able to practice at Curtis HS.

Thank you Mrs. Cedarstrand for helping mitigate the shortage - and to the 9 athletes that have paid timely.

We have one more month to pay.  Next year we'll us paypal.

Thank you!

The Simplot Games (simplotgames.com) are held in Pocatello Idaho. We normally fly into Boise on Thursday and drive into Pocatello. When we arrive in Pocatello, we typically tour the facility, have dinner and follow with a team meeting.

We have a limited number of rooms reserved at the Towne Place Suites.

The meet is Friday 2/20 and Saturday 2/21. (I don't think we have anyone throwing or running the 1600 or 3200 - in which case competition starts on Thursday). Friday is qualifying with finals on Saturday. This meet is for 9th-12th grade students.Friday night there is a dinner and dance put on by The Simplot Games.

After the meet Saturday, we drive to Boise, stay the night and fly home Sunday.

-You can run one track event unless you have a qualifying time in both events. -You may do 2 field events.

-You must have your 2016 USATF card.

-You must have team travel, concussion and registration forms on file (located under the members only section of the website)

- We split Nate's fees, that amount will follow.

Curtis Light Fee

Team,

Summer 2015 Team Meeting

Parents, please plan on attending our team meeting on June 10th during practice at Charles Wright Academy. This is a required meeting. We will be collecting team fees ($75.00) and handing out new forms that need to be filled out. We will also cover the schedule for the season along with a few other important matters.

Thank you and see you then.

Mike Swift

We recently lost one of, if not the, biggest supporter of our team. Mike Swift passed in his sleep May 9th. Mike touched the lives of almost every athlete that has trained on our team. His passing will leave a huge hole in our team and in our hearts. His dedication and spirit tour our team and Coach Nate will never be forgotten.

A memorial to celebrate his life will be held at Gray Middle School on  what would have been his 60th birthday, May 31st at 1:00pm.

Pasco Invitational Triple Jump Record Goes Down

Our very own Saudia James-Heard set a new Pasco Invite record when she jumped 40 feet 3 1/4. That jump broke a 19 year old mark!!  This ranks her 8th in the nation for the triple jump!

We are fast approaching the summer season. We will be announcing our annual parents meeting soon. We will also be talking about the South Puget Sound Track Festival that we run each June. This is a huge meet and an awesome experience.

Another News Article & Spring Break Practices

We've posted another news article from the Tacoma News Tribune in the News Section.

This week is spring break for most of our kids. Practice will be normal throughout the week. Take advantage of the week away from school by getting the most out of practice with Nate.

AJ Athletes Make The News Again!!!

Check out the latest news articles printed by The Tacoma News Tribune this weekend. We have made the links available in the News Section of our website.

Practice this week is normal, no changes. Monday & Wednesday @ 5:30 and Sunday @ 12:00/2:00

Stay focused and keep up the hard work during the school season. You all have a lot to be proud of. You're dedication to off season training is paying off!

New Balance Indoor Nationals

We've just added a video of Chinne from the New Balance Nationals to the "News" section. Pretty cool.

Also, please take the time to go to our Go Fund Me page and share our fundraiser. We've raised $20.00 so far. Only 7 people have shared the fundraiser.  You can find the link on our website under "News". I'll also add the links to this email.

Flying AJ's Travel Fundraiser

We are extremely excited to announce the start of our new fundraiser on Go Fund Me!!! In order for this to be successful, we will need the support from all of our parents. Please visit our Go Fund Me page and share our fundraiser on all of your social networks. Together we can raise the funds needed to help offset some of the costs associated with traveling to our summer meets and allow all of our athletes an opportunity to compete on a national stage.

Website Changes, Practice & Videos

As you may have noticed, the website has been undergoing some changes. I have been working with both Helen and Nate to make our website more appealing to our viewers as well more informative for our team. This newsletter is one of those changes and will serve as an avenue to more effectively communicate with all of you.

I have updated the calendar to show our school season practice schedule. All the practices for each week will be listed on the Sundays. Click on that day to get a detailed view of Coach Nate's practice schedule. Now that we have transitioned into our school season, ALL practices will be held at Charles Wright Academy. Times will vary early on due to the limited daylight.

We added an awesome video of Andrea on our News section. If you haven't seen "Andrea Geubelle-More Than A Number"I highly encourage you to check it out!! It is very inspirational.

Simplot 2015

Just uploaded some great videos from The Simplot Games as well as a brief recap of our performances.

While the indoor season is over for most of us, it's time to transition into the outdoor season. Lets all focus and keep working hard at practice. Nate will continue to have practices during the school season. The schedule may change slightly so keep checking with him week by week.

Congrats again to the team for their performances this indoor season and good luck to each of you in your school season. Lets also wish Chinne and Saudia good luck in New York at the New Balance Nationals in just a couple weeks.
